What is a Nurse Practitioner?
A Nurse Practitioner is a Registered Nurse (R.N.) with advanced education and clinical training in a health care specialty, and national certification. They train to promote health and prevent disease through education and comprehensive health care, can provide a variety of medical services, and assess, diagnose and treat illnesses through prescribing medication. Under the oversight of a supervising physician, NPs serve as primary health care providers for children and adults during health and illness.
